Lambert was born in Great Neck, New York. His father was a French diplomat and he spent most of his childhood in Geneva and Paris.

He had parts in French films before being cast as Lord Greystroke in the 1984 feature Lord Greystroke: The Legend Of Tarzan, Lord Of The Apes. As well as being Lambert's introductory role it was also the feature debut of Andie McDowell. The portrayal of the Lord Of The Apes was well received as was the feature as a whole but Christopher’s next feature role would be his making.

Set in 16th century Scotland and 1985 New York, Highlander tells the story of the immortal Connor MacLeod. After a brutal natural death awakens MacLeod's immortal nature and renders him an outcast, he trains under the tutelage of Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos (played by Sean Connery) and continues his deadly rivalry with the brutal and monstrous Kurgan (Clancy Brown). This culminates in The Gathering in 1985 New York where the remaining immortals fight it out for The Prize, after all there can be only one!

Filming Highlander presented quite a few challenges for Lambert. There were hours of training daily with a voice coach. As well as learning the various accents Lambert was also learning to speak English! The action was not confined to the screen, as the arcing when swords clashed was the result of them being connected to car batteries (please don’t try that at home). Lambert's poor eyesight meant his sword scenes had their share of real life injuries. Extras indulging in the odd liquid lunch meant they were a bit heavy handed in the clan fight scenes.

Lambert would return to the role on several occasions, first in Highlander 2: The Quickening which reunited him with Connery and again in Highlander 3: the Sorcerer. He would also resume the role in the pilot of the TV series where he would be joined by Adrian Paul as clansman and fellow immortal Duncan MacLeod.

Away from life as Connor, Lambert played another immortal, thunder god Lord Raiden in Mortal Kombat, which was adapted from the legendary video game. Martial arts replaces sword play as Lord Raiden leads 3 fighters to the mysterious Outworld in a bid to win a fighting tournament and avert the Outworld invading Earth. Other notable roles include the rebellious John Henry Brennick in 1992’s Fortress, a dystopian sci fi about a futuristic prison and a return in 2000 for Fortress 2. He plays the titular character in the 1999 release of Beowulf. He also features alongside Jean Claude Van Damme and Mike Tyson in 2018s Kickboxer Retaliation.

With a long awaited reboot of Highlander going ahead, Lambert might not be finished with the series or the character quite yet!
